"I need to find Lamby!"

Mary had lost her lamb! Could you find her lamb? Or would you find something... interesting that isn't what it seemed.

---

Mary Had A Lost Lamb is a exploration (inspired by 'The Path') psychological horror RPG Maker game on a microorganism who is finding her lamb. Do be aware this game is very dialogue heavy.

Controls:

Movement - Arrow Keys

Menu - [X], [Esc]

Action - [Z], [Space], [Enter]

Cancel - [X], [Esc]

Notes:

Please be aware that there will a lot of dialogue that plays a huge part of this game so I recommend saving by the 'Forestery School' or 'Outskirts' so you don't have to return to reading the prologue dialogue again.

DO NOT SAVE WHEN YOU'RE GOING ON A PATH OTHER THAN OUTSKIRTS OR FORESTERY SCHOOL!

(Because you won't able to backtrack. That's how I built the game. Though this is a hint, there will be something if you try to leave the path after confirming to go to the path for extra information.)

If you're not the type to like reading, then I'd suggest looking into another game, sorry. Before anyone says it, I purposely disabled 'dashing' in the game because you don't need to run in this game. It's meant to be slow anyway.

---

Features:

- Estimation less than a few minutes playtime

- Multiple Endings (3 + 1 True Ending)

[Hint: Each ending has something that you can use for the 'school' when you return to your save file.]

- Original CG Illustrations/Sprites/Music

---

Warnings

Mentions/Possible Imagery of

- Abuse/Neglect

- Body Horror

- Blood/Violence/Gore

- Murder/Death

There is already a disclaimer in the game but it's summarised for the sake of avoiding adding a long list of things.

---

This game is made for the RPG Maker Horror Game Jam #1 (also known as the #21) however I failed to use the whole month but 1/4 of the month to work on this so it's heavily lackluster in gameplay rather than story and aesthetic hence it's a spinoff.

---

Note from Author:

"I am LOSING MY HEAD I ALMOST LOST THE RPG MAKER FILE FROM CORRUPTION PLEASE-

Anyway, hi. It's a really short game that does take a spinoff of my main series so this is why it's very short. I don't have time to do more stuff cause... studies so yeah. Have fun!"

Another Note: I did not have beta testers as I was crunching time so if there are grammatical errors, I apologise in advance!

This game is really sweet the true ending made me smile and ending 2||Evolution was straight up some fear and hunger ending A kinda thing. I really love the art and sometimes I would pause and look at what brushes I thought a certain piece of art was made with due to the impressive detail. The character designs where amazing(I mean you can't really go wrong with a goat/sheep theme :>) and all around the game was enjoyable. 10/10

Humourous enough, I barely knew Fear and Hunger's endings so I took a look to see what you meant. Interesting finding on it!

Haha, the brushes are nothing but the same old pixel brushes and airbrushes if you ever need to ask on details. Rendering is by my old techniques. I appreciate the feedback!~

aaaaaa kinda sad :c but it was a cool game

Thank you for the feedback! Do expect more of that in the future though haha.

This was a fun and cute game. Would love to see you make more games.

Thank you for the feedback! Perhaps in the future when I have more ideas at hand!

About part of your comment in the video, it could have been longer like most people would have told me yeah but I had a little strict time limit so I don't want to run prolong something I shouldn't so it's quite snappy and short so it doesn't overstay its welcome.

This was so cute. I was shocked at first at just how short it is, but the way I felt so encouraged to go each path and get the secret ending was so fun and fulfilling. I love your art style. The texture of the paths, the mood of the creepy encounters, the adorable walk cycle of the main character. So cool! Excited to see what else you do!

(Spoilers!) The secret room at the end, I just love that idea, haha. I reminds me of like, back when Pixar and Disney movies had fake bloopers at the end of their animated movies. Just this fun little extra bit that proves the creator was having fun making it. Really cool.

Thank you so much for the feedback! And yeah, it is very short I'm afraid even though I put a lot of time coding a lot into it. But it's to ensure I don't add more things that shouldn't cause more problem haha!

Ah, bonus rooms are always my favourites. When it came to the really old RPG Maker games, bonus rooms are very dominant in DeepSeaPrisoner's games before and I wanted to do that. I still run it as an extra information so that people can build ideas around the character.

I quite enjoyed this, planning to play the other game you made at a later date which I believe you stated ties in to this one a little?

Really awesome.and more then what I ever did with rpgmaker. Also made a vidya too :B

Thank you so much for the feedback and well, I didn't expect a video as well!

And well, it depends how you tie it but there are only a few small similarities (hence spinoff because it omly uses the same universe) as the main series runs with more indepth of the story. Chances are that I'm still continuing it to complete it but it's still not really vastly explained. There is a lot I kept behind doors haha, so I hope to use them when time ever comes.

Well if you ever get the chance to make a third one, I look forward to it ^^

Lovely game! This is my first RPG game maker game that I've played in my life. Really loved how eerie it was in contrast with the cutesy setting in the beginning! I guess.. ill start making videos about these kinds of RPG games now :D

Thank you for the feedback and I am surprised! Your first RPG Maker that you played? I'm honored.

Most people would play the classics I admit it or the most popular RPG Maker game up to date but it makes me happy. I hope you do find more that fancies you in the future.

(+1)

Mhm! I plan to play your other RPG game in the future too (if this kind of game playthrough works out) Good luck and have a good one!

this was really short, and really good!

it's a super simple game but that's what makes it effective. it gives exactly the right amount of information the player needs to be engaged with the story, and leaves everything else to the imagination, to great effect. each ending is more disturbing than the last, culminating in a sad but powerful true ending that gives a little more insight into what's really happening. and once again the art is really good, increasing both the charming personality of mary and the sheer horror of her and lamby's different fates.

like in the first game, the wording in a lot of parts is a little off but again, i'm not gonna rag on that. and something i actually think was improved over the first game is the storytelling! your "let the players draw their own conclusions" way of writing worked even better in a shorter & simpler experience, giving out the right amount of lore to keep us intrigued.

in fact, in you don't mind, i'm gonna give my interpretation of the story of both games! i'm probably mega wrong but i'll do my best lol:

(SPOILERS FOR THIS GAME AND THE PREVIOUS ONE, BORROWED BOOK)

i think the microorganisms world doesn't actually exist. it's some sort of fantasy world people who have suffered severe trauma go to, to escape from reality. and both rudy and mary are counterparts of their real selves.

in Borrowed Book, megu is someone from the real world that, with some kind of advanced technology (the "simulation"), enters the mind of rudy's human counterpart in order to fix the trauma that left him severely mentally scarred and gave him amnesia. all the spirits and creatures they meet in the library represent different parts of rudy's fractured psyche: the spirit that asks you to find a book and leaves behind a note about a mother (rudy could be obsessed with feeling like a "reject", and his mother maybe played a part in his trauma), the spirit that fake-kills a doll (maybe rudy murdered someone in the real world?), the wall of flesh that gives you a quiz (the dialogue if you fail all questions proves his desire to fit in)... while all this time, megu is lying to rudy, telling him that she's his guide and that she's a microorganism too, which rudy almost realizes as the last spirit asks him who does he trust in. it's all an attempt to fix his psychological state, shattered by some horrible thing that happened to him in his childhood (evidenced by the drawings screens near the end of the game, which give off the vibe of a twisted childhood home).

in Mary Had A Lost Lamb, mary is also the counterpart of a real girl, who suffered greatly from losing her dog at a young age. each ending represents different emotions she felt by that loss: the tree ending is her desire to find her dog again and be together forever, the rifle ending is her longlasting anger at him for leaving her behind, and the god fusion ending... i don't really know what that meant, i'm too dumb to get it lol. however, as we see in the true ending, mary (or marie) has a better grasp on reality that rudy, as she's able to go in and out of the fantasy microorganisms world. also in the end, lamby (or lance) maybe comes back? i'm not sure if that actually happened or not.

so yeah, that was my reading of everything! i know the "it was all a dream/trauma-induced fantasy" interpretations aren't super original but it's what i came up with lol.

in conclusion, really good game!!

Thank you very much for the feedback!

I am actually very proud I was able to tell a story additionally in the spinoff much better. I have been very invested in listening to how people love Silent Hill and horror games in JP areas so it's how I was able to learn storytelling by letting the people draw their conclusions.

And I love your interpretation! To be honest, the interpretation of yours is not wrong! I think it's what I went with back then. I am fascinated with ideas that I can work with and I'm glad you enjoyed it much.

(+1)

i actually haven't played silent hill lol, but yeah the storytelling here definitely feels like it had more learning experience to back it up. neat stuff!

and omg i'm happy to hear you liked my reading! :D you saying it's not wrong caught me off guard lmao i thought i was way off, so that definitely recontextualizes some things from the games...

short but somewhat sweet.

Will say this is good bait for the rest of the universe, so I'm hooked.

(+1)

Thank you for your feedback!

The rest of the universe is very vast! I hope to continue the main series when I get the chance.

Muy buen juego , me a gustado , e podido sacar los tres finales , los cuales enseñan varios aspectos de las decisiones que se va tomando .

Thank you for the feedback!

I was very inspired by the Path so I can't help but to use that idea while making it.

(+1)

Short and sweet! I like it. I would've liked to know more about Mother and Father, but I assume they are mentioned in a different game. :) it was nice and simple.

(+1)

I appreciate your feedback! As for that, I usually let the userbase decide what happens to the father and mother. It's more of an open ended scenario.

Most of the stuff I run as a draw your own conclusion kind of thing.
